Kindle

Amazon's Send to Kindle service accepts EPUB files and automatically converts them for your Kindle. Here are the easiest ways to get EPUBs onto your Kindle:

Method 1: Send to Kindle via Email (Easiest)

  1. Find your Kindle email address:
    • Go to amazon.com/myk
    • Click on your device
    • Your address looks like name_abc@kindle.com
  2. Email the EPUB file to that address as an attachment
  3. Amazon converts it automatically and it appears in your Kindle library

Note: Make sure the sender email is in your approved list at Amazon's Content Settings.

Method 2: Send to Kindle App

  1. Download the Send to Kindle app for your computer or phone
  2. Drag and drop EPUB files onto the app (or share from your phone)
  3. Choose which devices to send to
  4. Books appear in your Kindle library after conversion

Method 3: Using Calibre

  1. Install Calibre (free)
  2. Add the EPUB to your Calibre library
  3. Convert to AZW3 format (Calibre does this automatically when sending)
  4. Use Calibre's "Connect/share" feature to email to your Kindle

Kobo

Kobo e-readers have excellent EPUB support. Here's how to load your books:

Method 1: USB Transfer (Easiest)

  1. Connect your Kobo to your computer via USB
  2. Your Kobo will appear as a drive
  3. Drag the EPUB file anywhere onto the Kobo drive
  4. Eject safely and your book will appear in your library

Method 2: Using Calibre

  1. Install Calibre (free)
  2. Add your EPUB to your Calibre library
  3. Connect your Kobo via USB
  4. Click "Send to device" in Calibre

Method 3: Kobo Desktop App

  1. Install the Kobo Desktop app
  2. Add the EPUB to your library
  3. Sync with your Kobo device

Apple Books (iPhone, iPad, Mac)

Apple Books has native EPUB support, making it the easiest option for Apple device users.

iPhone/iPad

  1. Download the EPUB file
  2. Tap on the file in your Downloads or Files app
  3. It will automatically open in Apple Books
  4. Tap "Add to Library" if prompted

If the file opens in another app, tap the Share button and choose "Copy to Books".

Mac

  1. Download the EPUB file
  2. Double-click the file to open it in Apple Books
  3. Or drag the file onto the Books app icon

Syncing Across Devices

Books added to Apple Books sync automatically via iCloud if you have iCloud Books enabled in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Books.

Android

Android has many excellent EPUB readers. Here are the most popular options:

Google Play Books (Built-in)

  1. Open Google Play Books
  2. Tap your profile picture > "Play Books settings"
  3. Turn on "Enable PDF uploading"
  4. Download the EPUB, then open Files
  5. Tap the EPUB and choose Play Books

Moon+ Reader (Recommended)

Moon+ Reader is a powerful, customizable EPUB reader.

  1. Install Moon+ Reader from Play Store
  2. Download the EPUB file
  3. Open the file and choose Moon+ Reader

Calibre (Windows, Mac, Linux)

Calibre is the Swiss Army knife of e-book management. It's free, open-source, and works with almost any e-reader.

Getting Started

  1. Download Calibre from calibre-ebook.com
  2. Install and run the first-time setup wizard
  3. Drag EPUB files into Calibre to add them to your library

Sending to Your Device

  1. Connect your e-reader via USB
  2. Select the book(s) in Calibre
  3. Click "Send to device"
  4. Calibre will convert if needed and transfer

reMarkable

Use Calibre with the reMarkable plugin, or convert to PDF first.
